Amazonia

Music? Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy – Big & Rich
Mood? Doing Well Thanks

I have had an interesting experience these last few days. I have been dealing with the M/V Amazonia. It’s a Ukrainian crew at the Kaiser Aluminum plant in Reserve, La. Chris made a doctor’s appointment for the Captain of the ship and told me to go pick him up and take him. So, I went and took him to the doctor and the first doctor referred us to a second doctor and the 2nd doctor told the Captain (Yuriy Kirillin) that he had to have surgery. So, he did a biopsy and we will get the pathology report back this week and the next time the captain comes into the port, I will take him back to the doctor to have the cancerous growth removed from his ear. It was very interesting for me to see this. I don’t know why but this struck me as odd.
The next day I took him to CompUSA and Best Buy so he could buy some things. He already has 2 laptops and 4 cell phones, so what’s a little more? It was kind of weird to me, but he took me to dinner afterwards and I’ll have to say that was my best meal of the week. Overall, It was an experience that really allowed me to understand a different person and I hope that this relationship will grow so that I can share the gospel up front with him instead of doing it through actions as I have been.
Yesterdat was been really cool. Jared and I visited the M/S Holiday. We met up with a Jamaican man named Martin and had a time of sharing with him, which Jared tries to do every time the Holiday is in port. He can’t find another Christian on his ship and he is lonely without someone to share his faith with. So, Jared and I shared some scripture and Martin taught us a song. Martin needs very much a body of believers to fellowship with to encourage one another and spread the gospel through the cruise ship. SO I shared a bit of insight with him. I told him that Jesus said “Take us your cross daily and follow me” but that even when Jesus was carrying His physical cross to Golgotha he needed help, because he was to weak to carry it. SO everyone may need some help to carry their burdens, especially in an oppressive environment.
I hope that you can encourage someone today and continue to do so. Fellowship with other believers is something that I think that American church, whatever denomination, takes for granted way to much. I hope you get something out of this, because that’s why I share it.
Later
J
