Worthless...

Music? All The Time - Jeremy Camp
Muse? Jeremiah 7

This weekend was a lot of fun. Fall break was much needed, but I still think they should have waited and given us a full week off for Thanksgiving.

Turkey
Yeah, I love turkey. Anyway, what really on my heart today is what God told Jeremiah in Jer. 7. He spoke of the Worthlessness of False Religion. It really reminded me of what some people do in the church today. They think that just because they go to "the house of God" means that they are ok and everything is hunky dorry between them and God.
Jeremiah 7:9-11
"Use your heads! Do you think you can rob and murder, have sex with the neighborhood wives, tell lies nonstop, worship the local gods, and buy every novel religious commodity on the market and then march into this Temple, set apart for my worship, and say, "We're safe!" thinking that the place itself gives you a license to go on with all this outrageous sacrilege? A cave full of criminals! Do you think you can turn this Temple, set apart for my worship, into something like that? Well, think again. I've got eyes in my head. I can see what's going on."
People don't seem to understand. Works don't get you into heaven, but Faith without works is dead. If a person is brought to salvation through Christ, the only means to get to the Father, then he/she should be convicted to do His work. Its a desire that God puts inside of you as you seek Him, and if you have been "born again", then you should have this desire. The 11 disciples and Paul dedicated their lives to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They all could have renounced their faith but they did not, and that is because they truly believed what they preached. (John was exiled and died of old age; the only one not to be killed) So, how can a person who truly knows Jesus and believes what the Bible says go around during Mardi Gras and party it up every single year without reservation?

My prayer for myself is that I would realize this concept on a day to day basis. I need to seek God in everything I do, not just in times of worship or study, but always.
