So life is interesting...
...and confusing.
I wish that life would be easy, or at least I did.
I started reading a section of Wild At Heart and it talked about being a warrior. There was a man in the book that Eldredge was interviewing and what he said hit me really hard, even though I've read it a dozen times.
"I will die on this hill..."
In Ecclesiastes, Solomon says "I hated all my work at which I labored under the sun because I must leave it to the man who comes after me..." (Ecc. 2:18) We can labor over things that just build up 'dust and rust' or we can die doing and pursuing something meaningful.
I will die on this hill fighting
and battling for people's lives and for people's hearts.
I hope I have the resolve I need.
This is definitely the short version and doesn't have all the details, but just holla if you wanna talk about it.
(Oh and my computer's shot. So if anyone wants to pitch in and help I would be incredibly grateful.)
Holes to heaven...
So I finally picked up Jack Johnson's album On and On and I have basically fallen in love with a song. No it's not ridiculous, but Holes to Heaven has just captured the moment I'm in...
I'm here in the real world fighting to get what I need to done, through whatever means, in a rough environment (albeit, not as rough as India) but just trying to get things done. Being a kid was where it was at though, less stress, just kinda floating on, not really caring what was important or going on. Just to be one of the kids playing cricket with bare feet.
"and there were so many fewer questions when
star were still just the holes to heaven... mmhmmmmm..."Oh, innocence...

My Bleeding Heart...
So, life is pretty good. I have issues just like everyone does. I get irritated with my girlfriend. I get ticked at my friends, but I enjoy life and try to build on the relationships as much as possible. And I've come to a realization, which is huge. I'm a bleeding-heart liberal... Or at least a moderate. Thanks to Courtney, I realized it. I think I've always been...
Anyway, I've begun to make some huge realizations about myself. Like that I'm not perfect, and I won't be till Kingdom Come, and I've accepted that. If I screw up, I'll be alright and I shouldn't try and hide it because its part of who I am and Jesus loves me anyway. If other Christians take issue with that then they need to read Romans again.
I'm trying to figure out what I want to go to grad school for. I'm kinda stuck though. I want to get a masters in Social Theory, but padre takes issue with that. "Jonathan, what kind of job are you going to pursue with that?" I DON'T KNOW! I love sociology. It's fascinating. Everything relates to it. Or I could get an M Div which would help me in my profession if I work in a church, which is very very likely. And I like learning about Christian history and Jewish culture (I've taken a few courses on it) but Hermeneutics and Systematic Theology don't sound too enticing...
So keep me in your prayers and I'll do the same for you.
Later kids,
J

One of those kinds of days...
music:
Sonya Kitchell - Think of You
Derek Webb - I Hate Everything (But You)
Have you ever just had one of those days.
I did yesterday.
Maybe today will be better.
I'm sick of being miserable...
Empty handed,
J

Interview with Dustin Ragland » Fighting to Stay Awake
Interview with Dustin Ragland » Fighting to Stay Awake:
"there are moments where i feel like my limbs are playing simply in tune with the spirit, in the context of a room of people who are in part responding to the music, and in part then, to my percussion. this sense of linking my simple drumming to the Holy Spirit moving in our hearts as we pay attention to God’s heart. it is crazy!"
This is it!
This is what I strive for.
Obviously I'm not a drummer, but Dustin, who by the way is 6'8", understands the concept of leading worship, even amongst loops and effects and a wall of sound. It is an art that God can use to touch the worshipper, on the stage or off. Seek Him the same way when you're being led in worship. That's why we lead, so that the one singing and in the room with us can experience the prescence of God as we do, while we experience the same thing simultaneously.
period.
peace.

Shoes?
So I found this website, it was a link on the Nickel Creek website, and I don't normally shop. In any sense of the word. But these shoes are freakin sweet and so is just about every other shoe on the website. No I'm not gay.
I just like these shoes.
So I started thinking about why I liked these shoes, and I've officially decided that my girlfriend is weirder than I am b/c these are the shoes that she used to have (until they mildewed).
Mildewed. Yes. They mildewed and attached themselves to the floor of the cabin. I don't even want to think about how they smelled...Probably 10x worse than my shoes do after I run. Which is pretty rank. I'm here to tell ya.
Anyway...
Maybe shoes say something about your personality? Oh yeah. Did I add that my girlfriend is also a hippie?
That might explain it.
It might explain a lot of things about her. ;)

Clinton vs. Wallace
if you can't see the video, click here
Wow. This was really interesting.
I think Clinton has some valid points.
I think the question was unfair and Clinton has every right to get mad. If the question had been asked differently then I don't think it would have been as bad, but it was asked in a very accusing manner.
The fact that the Bush Admin didn't meet on the bin Laden issue until after 9/11 does bother me though.
Thoughts?
